Bangladesh: Opposition rejects ‘rigged’ election and demands new voting

The opposition alliance  in Bangladesh has described Sunday’s election as ‘farcical’ and demands new vote. They said that they will reject any result of this election.

“We want the election commission to void this farcical result immediately,” opposition leader Kamal Hossain said.

“We are demanding that a new election is held under a neutral government as early as possible.”

At least 17 people died killed during during a clash between opposition and the ruling party. Dozens of candidates pulled out of the contest on the day. They were claiming that the ruling Awami League has rigged the vote to secure a record third consecutive term for the prime minister.

An agent claims to have seen filled ballet boxes at a poling station. That was before the pole started.

It was the country’s first contested election in a decade.
